Barclays Continues Hiring in ABS

After boosting its securitized products origination group just last week, Barclays Capital has hired more personnel for its ABS operations.

The bank has made three securitization hires who are all expected to start later this month. Emile Ernandez, previously from Deutsche Bank, will join as a vice president while Matt Brand, formerly from Credit Suisse, will join as an associate. Both will be part of Barclays' esoteric team

Meanwhile, Ravi Suresh, who prior to his hiring was at UBS, will join the structuring team as an associate.

Last week, Barclays hired Mahesh Rajagopalan, who is a director, and Kashif Gilani, who is vice president, as structurers also from Credit Suisse. The new hires will join the firm in May and June, respectively.

Barclays has also hired Eric Chang as vice president from Bank of America to focus on auto origination. Chang, who is expected to start in May, will report to Martin Attea.

Barclays hired Attea in April right after the departure of Jay Kim, formerly co-head of its U.S. asset securitization team. Kim took at least 10 bankers with him to Credit Suisse where he will start working this month.

Attea, who was previously at Morgan Stanley, is the bank's new senior originator of consumer securitization transactions. He was formerly part of Lehman Brothers/Barclays until 2009.

Meanwhile, recently Barclays appointed Diane Rinnovatore as co-head of securitized products origination together with Cory Wishengrad. Rinnovatore has been working in Barclays' debt capital markets covering banks for the past three years and before that was co-head of securitized products banking at Lehman.
