Hometap appoints Silverman and Berg to senior exec roles

Hometap, the Boston-based provider of technology driven home equity finance solutions, announced two senior appointments to its executive leaders.

Jesse Silverman joins the firm as general counsel, to oversee the firm's legal and compliance functions, and Josh Berg joins the company as chief product officer, in charge of product development, according to a statement from Hometap.

The financial technology firm says the hires reflect its continued investment in a solid foundation for growth, as it develops its platform of finance offerings, and engages with industry leaders and regulators.

Founded in 2017, Hometap completed its first securitization of revenue from its home equity investment securitization in July 2024, raising $217 million in securitized bonds.

"Hometap's growth has been driven by a focus on building solutions that reflect the financial realities homeowners are navigating today," according to a statement from Jeffrey Glass, Hometap's CEO.

Berg joins Hometap from ResortPass, where he was vice president of product, and ezCater as chief product officer.

Silverman has experience advising fintech companies as an expert in state and regulatory matters. Before the Hometap appointment, he served as outside counsel to several fintech firms, guiding them through the product development and offering process. He also helped them integrate compliance policies across their departments.

He has also had a few senior government roles, including at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he helped establish the agency's office of enforcement, according to a company statement.
