UFA Takes Anaytics Model to Street

University Financial Associates, a recent start-up company involved in financial analytics is looking to break into the asset-backed securities business.

The company is in the process of researching and contacting those ranked among the top ABS investors for their receptiveness to the company's loan scoring models and other analytical tools.

The operation has been up and running since January and is based in Minnesota, under the leadership of Lawrence Benveniste, chairman of the finance department at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, Dennis R. Capozza, professor of finance at the University of Michigan's business school and Lyle Zeller, a consultant.

Zeller said the company's clients consist of consumer lenders, home-equity lenders, commercial real estate lenders, auto lenders and lessors, mortgage servicers, mortgage insurers, and asset-backed securities issuers and investors.
