SG hires head of CDO group

Dansby White has joined Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking as a managing director and head of the U.S. CDO group. Mr. White will be based in the firm's New York office and will report to Managing Director and Global Head of Securitization Greg Medcraft.

"Dansby has proven leadership abilities and has successfully managed other firms' CDO businesses and will be charged with managing our expanding commitment to our asset management, hedge fund and other trading and capital markets clients," said Medcraft, in a company release issued today. "He is very experienced with a demonstrated talent for applying cutting-edge structured finance technology to new asset classes and creating and developing innovative products and funds. Société Générale is committed to growing its financing, structuring and capital markets capabilities in the structured products area and Dansby's leadership will help us to accomplish that goal," Medcraft added.

White joins Société Générale after two years on the buy side with Highland Capital Management where he was managing director and senior portfolio manager responsible for growing the firm's structured product businesses. Prior to Highland, White spent four years with Merrill Lynch, where he was a managing director and head of structured finance and CDOs. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1998 as a Director in Merrill's credit derivatives group. He was promoted to global head of the CDO group in 1999, with his responsibilities including origination, structuring and trading of cash and synthetic CDOs. In 2000,  White's responsibilities were expanded to include the firm's ABS, CMBS, ABCP and aircraft-related financing activities.

White earned his Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University (1979), his Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (1981) and his law degree from Rutgers University (1987).
