The Structured Finance Industry Group (SFIG) has hired Dan Goodwin as director of mortgage policy.

Goodwin will work with SFIG to revitalize the sales of private-label mortgage backed securities by creating recommendations for best practices and standardizing contract language.

SFIG, which represents both lenders and investors, is working on a project called RMBS 3.0, that is expected to release its next paper this fall.

Goodwin reports directly to SFIG’s executive director, Richard Johns.

He was previously executive vice president of Hilltop Holdings, where he worked with specialty finance companies and private investors in the middle market.

Before Hilltop, he held leadership roles across Bank of America Merrill Lynch during a 15-year tenure at the bank, most recently as head of securitization and principal investing.
