Echave is an expert in the fields of regulation and securitization. At the ESF, Echave was an advisor on legal matters in the European securitization market, across many countries, especially on the implementation of Basel II, and the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, MiFID, which came into effect on November 1. "Carlos has significant regulatory capital expertise as well as wide experience in structured finance and capital markets transactions and is well known in the industry," said Bruce Bloomingdale, of Mayer Brown's London securitization practice. "He will work alongside an increasing number of specialists in the practice who really understand the context of their expertise in relation to the bigger picture." The decision to hire Echave comes after a spate of 43 promotions at the firm worldwide, as Mayer Brown continues to expand globally.
