Mayer Brown Promotes Dominic Griffiths To Banking and Finance Head

Mayer Brown appointed Dominic Griffiths as the new head of the banking and finance group in London.

Griffiths joined the law firm five years ago. He takes over from Bruce Bloomingdale, who will now focus on increasing the synergies between the firm's European and U.S. finance practices and continuing to advise the firm's clients on international finance deals.

The new appointee is a banking and structured finance lawyer who has been instrumental in building the law firm’s securitization and leveraged finance groups in London.

He represents banks, financial institutions and corporations across a broad spectrum of international financing deals. His practice is particularly focused on matters of securitization, asset-based lending, and acquisition finance.

He has extensive experience in European MBS, CDOs. cross-border secured loans, and trade receivables financing, and project financings. Griffiths also represents clients engaged in the structuring and execution of finance deals in Italy and the emerging markets. He joined Mayer Brown in 2005.

“We are delighted that Dominic has agreed to take on this role. He is a highly experienced finance practitioner and I'm confident that the U.K. practice will continue to thrive under his leadership, while we utilize the global platform for our existing clients here in the U.K. and for overseas clients,”said  Ian Coles, global finance practice leader at Mayer Brown.

“The U.K. continues to be a very significant market for us with London a key hub for international finance transactions," Griffiths said. "We already have one of the largest and most experienced finance teams in the City, acting for the world's major financial institutions and companies. I look forward to building on these strong foundations and working with our clients in meeting the challenges and opportunities presented by the market."

"I very much look forward to the new challenges presented by working to increase the ties between our European and US Finance practices," Bloomingdale said. "In London, we have taken significant steps to increase the breadth and depth of the practice over the last two years and I am confident that Dominic is the right partner to help us take the next step in building a leading London Banking and Finance practice."
