Deutsche Names New Head of ABS Research

Steve Abrahams has been named the head of Deutsche Bank Securities securitization and MBS research.

The former Bear Stearns strategist was the founder and managing director at Citadel Capital Advisors. Prior to that, Abrahams had been global head of liquid-product strategy at Bear Stearns. Before his stint at Bear, the new hire was previously a credit portfolio manager at Freddie Mac and a senior analyst at Morgan Stanley.

Deutsche also hired Dominic Konstam as a managing director and global head of rates research within Deutsche's global markets division. In this role, Konstam, who will be based in New York, will be focusing on developing the bank’s fixed-income research platform in the U.S. and globally. Konstam's appointment will be effective June 1, 2010.

He was most recently global head of interest rates research at Credit Suisse, where he oversaw
macro strategy, derivatives and Treasury research.

Both Abrahams and Konstam will report to Marcel Cassard, global head of macro and fixed income research.

As previously reported by StructuredFinanceNews.com, Karen Weaver, former global head of securitization research at Deutsche Bank Securities, officially retired last month after two years of doing part time work with the bank.

Weaver's, who was the head of ABS research at Credit Suisse before joining Deutsche in 2000, retirement was announced in mid February via an internal memo.

The bank’s former director of MBS research Art Frank also left the firm recently. Prior to Deutsche, Frank was at Barclays Capital where he was hired as a director and mortgage strategist in October 2006. He joined Barclays from Nomura Securities where he was also a director and was head of mortgage research since 1998.

“Steve is a very well-known and respected securitization expert and we are thrilled to add him to our US team,” said Michele Faissola, managing director and global head of rates. "He is an industry veteran who has watched the securitization markets grow and evolve through several market cycles. This first-hand knowledge will further develop our market research and greatly benefit our institutional clients globally.”

“I am delighted to welcome Dominic to join our market-leading research franchise and know he
will be a major asset to our business and clients globally,” said Anshu Jain, head of global
markets and member of the management board. "Dominic brings a wealth of knowledge and
important client relationships to our platform, which will enhance our research product offering
and further our success in the rates market."
