BMA hires assistant general counsel

The Bond Market Association said today that Robbin Conner has been appointed vice president and assistant  general counsel. Conner, who will report to BMA associate general counsel  Lynnette Hotchkiss, will also be the staff advisor to the Association's MBS and securitizaed products division. He will focus on the division's legal, regulatory and market practice initiatives that include such areas as MBS fails, good delivery guidelines, nontraditional mortgage products and credit default swaps of ABS.

Conner was formerly at Skadden, Arps, Meagher & Flom where he was an attorney in the structured finance area. Previously, he was an executive vice president and global head of reinsurance for Assured Guaranty and a chief operating officer for ACE Capital Re International where he formed and ran the firm's Bermuda office.

On a related note, the division's CDO committee is also continuing its drive to increase secondary CDO market liquidity The Association started publishing quarterly CDO issuance data, the first time this information is publicly available. The division is also working on reviewing and updating its Uniform Practices for the Clearance and Settlement of MBS  and Other Related Securities manual. On the Association's agenda are numerous other initiatives like publishing mortgage prepayment tables.
