PIMCO Hires Kraus for Business Development

PIMCO has named Kristofer Kraus a new executive vice president within its advisory division. He will help lead new business development and relationship management.

The Newport Beach, Calif.-based firm states in today’s announcement that Kraus, a former managing director at Barclays Capital, will assist the bond behemoth’s arm that “provides strategic investment advice and customized services including the valuation, monitoring and liquidation of complex assets and portfolios…for a wide range of public and private institutions."

“Kristofer brings a wealth of experience in trading, valuing, structuring and selling complex assets,” Sabrina Callin, managing director and head of PIMCO Advisory, said in the July 9 press release. “His addition to our team will further strengthen the services that PIMCO Advisory provides and the relationships we continue to build.”

Prior to his appointment at Barclays Capital, the 15-year veteran spent time at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was strictly focused on structured products, mortgage-backed securities, derivatives and loan funds, the statement said.

Currently, the subsidiary of global insurance company Allianz S.E. has been providing investment management services to its institutional, individual and other public sector investor clients for roughly 39 years.

As of press time, it was unclear if Kraus’ position was newly created or if he was in fact replacing someone at the firm, as calls placed to Steven Vames, a PIMCO spokesperson were not immediately returned.
