NewOak Appoints Senior Advisor and Co-Chairman of Investment Committee

NewOak Capital appointed Donald Layton as senior advisor and co-chairman of its investment committee.

Layton will take a lead role in developing the firm’s private equity vehicle for bank recapitalization investments, assisting in the identification and full evaluation of investment opportunities, as well as providing ongoing advice regarding strategic and operational improvements for the banks in the firm’s investment portfolio.

Layton was chairman of E*TRADE Financial Corp. from November 2007 and CEO of the company from 2008, retiring from both positions in December 2009. He had previously worked as vice chairman at JPMorgan and retired in 2004 after 29 years at the firm.

Layton also serves as a director of Assured Guaranty. He has been a senior advisor to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's capital markets advisory committee and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology visiting committee for economics.
