Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International expanded its credit trading and sales business with the hire of a team of former Merrill Lynch professionals in London, the Japanese banking giant said on Monday.
The hires include Trent Hagland and John Caldwell as well as three traders and five salespeople.
Hagland joins as head of credit trading and Caldwell joins as head of credit sales.
The team also includes Andrew Corbett, Vanessa Soh and Greg Jarzabek in trading. Kim Pither, Anne Scheiermann, Antti Pohjola, Vittorio Bertana and Mohamed Vakil are in sales.
At Merrill, Hagland developed and ran its corporate trading team. At Mitsubishi, he will manage a team of seven traders covering primarily both high-grade and high-yield names in the cash markets.
Caldwell was previously head of U.K. credit sales for Merrill. He has experience dealing in cash, CDS, structured finance and property derivatives
