Knight Poaches Morgan Stanley S&T Team

Knight Capital Group launched sales, trading and research services for fixed-income investment advisers with a group brought over from Morgan Stanley, the firm said Wednesday. The financial services firm has been expanding its various fixed-income groups recently.

The group of five traders and sales managers, whose coverage includes high yield credits, joined the newly created Knight Advisor Services and launched a Web site that offers online trading, research and other services.

Joshua Zucker leads credit sales and trading for the team. He created Morgan Stanley’s special situations group. Bohn Vergari, formerly a fixed-income sales executive at Morgan Stanley, now directs fixed-income sales at Knight. Other group members include Joseph Miller, who focuses on sales; Patrick Moore, who specializes in broker-dealer sales; and John Browning, who works in business development.

The additions are part of a larger expansion the firm has undertaken recently. Earlier this month, Knight added Vikram Natarajan as head of loan and distressed trading and hired eight other executive for sales or trading roles, four of them for investment-grade sales. The other four include two emerging markets credit salespeople, a director for private placements and a director responsible for trading financials.

Knight and Houlihan Lokey recently formed an alliance to provide equity and fixed-income underwriting services. Knight has been adding staff in an effort to expand its credit market team, most frequently through its Knight Libertas subsidiary. Knight acquired Libertas two years ago for $75 million.
