Guy Carpenter & Co. appointed Desmond Potter as managing director and head of GC Securities M&A Advisory – Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Based in London, Potter will report to Bill Kennedy, CEO of global analytics and advisory at the firm.
In this newly created position, Potter will work with Guy Carpenter’s broker network across EMEA to coordinate the delivery of GC Securities’ advisory services as part of Guy Carpenter’s integrated solutions for clients. This includes the origination, structuring and execution of mergers and acquisitions, run-off and corporate finance advisory services.
Before GC Securities, Potter was managing director in capital markets, at Aon Benfield Securities, where he led the team responsible for the origination and structuring of insurance-linked securities for European clients. He was previously director in corporate finance at the Benfield Group. Potter started his career at Barclays Bank, where he had most recently served as the head of insurance.
