Guggenheim Securities Taps Carlos Fierro for Energy Practice

Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, continues to build out its energy practice. The firm said Monday that Carlos Fierro has joined the firm as a senior advisor.

Fierro has over 25 years of experience advising clients in the energy and natural resources industries.  Prior to joining Guggenheim Securities, he was managing director and global head of the natural resources investment banking practice at Barclays.  Prior to joining Barclays, he spent 11 years at Lehman Brothers, where he served as a managing director and global head of the natural resources group.  Fierro began his career as a corporate, mergers and acquisitions and securities attorney with Baker Botts L.L.P.

"We are excited to welcome Carlos to Guggenheim,” said Mark Van Lith, Co-CEO and Head of Investment Banking at Guggenheim Securities. “Carlos has a long track record of providing strategic advice to boards and CEOs.  His deep industry expertise will enhance our ability to deliver innovative solutions to clients in this important sector.”

“I am delighted to join Guggenheim Securities at this critical juncture for the oil and gas sector,” Fierro said.  “Guggenheim has a deep bench of professionals across restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets that can be readily employed to bring client focused solutions to energy companies across the value chain.”

Fierro currently serves on the boards of directors of Shell Midstream Partners, LP and Athabasca Oil Corp.  He also serves on the North American energy advisory board of Trilantic Capital Partners.

He will be based in Guggenheim’s Washington D.C. office.
