Evercore Adds Real Estate Firm to Stable

Evercore Partners announced its latest acquisition yesterday with the news it would be taking on commercial real estate advisory boutique MJC Associates.

The investment advisory firm also announced that Martin Cicco has been named senior managing director and head of Evercore¹s real estate advisory practice.

Cicco founded MJC Associates in January 2007, a press release said. His real estate experience includes 29 years at Merrill Lynch where he eventually served as vice chairman of global commercial real estate and global head of real estate investment banking.

Joining him at Evercore are MJC Associates team members Greg Brooks and Robert Klein who have been named a managing director and vice president, respectively, the statement said. The trio will be based in New York.

"The addition of Marty and his team broadens Evercore's industry and sector coverage to commercial real estate where there is a substantial opportunity for M&A, restructuring and capital raising advice as the industry continues to recover,² Evercore Partners Vice Chairman Eduardo Mestre said in the statement. ³We are fortunate he will be joining Evercore to head our Real Estate business. Marty and his team bring to Evercore a deep client base and a proven track record of success in delivering independent advice to real estate clients."

Evercore Partners advises clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, financings and other strategic transactions, the press release noted. The firm¹s investment management division specializes in wealth management, institutional asset management and private equity investing.

Last month, Evercore Partners  acquired Atalanta Advisors. And in February, it announced it had scooped up Neuberger Berman's fund placement group.
