Subject: Presidential Convention Update for Boston and New York City Employees

The McGraw-Hill Companies continues to work closely with city officials and

the management of our offices in New York and Boston in preparation for the

Democratic and Republican National Conventions. As previously announced,

all of our New York and Boston offices will remain open for business during

the conventions. Wherever possible, managers are working closely with their

employees to encourage utilization of existing work-life policies such as

flex-time and telecommuting during the conventions. In some cases, employees

may also be able to work from other offices of The McGraw-Hill Companies located away from convention-related activities.

As part of our presidential convention preparation, we are providing employees with

the following information and links to convention-related websites. We will continue

to provide information on convention-related matters as it becomes

available. You are encouraged to bookmark the websites below and keep up with

local news reports so you will be aware of how convention activities may affect your commute or work schedule.

As always, the safety of our employees is our first priority. Our Corporate Security

team is working closely with local authorities in both cities to ensure the security of our employees and our offices, and members of the team will be present to assist employees at affected office locations in Boston and New York City during the conventions.

Republican National Convention, New York City, Aug. 30 - Sept. 2

We have received some information on New York City's plans for the area surrounding our Two Penn Plaza location. Penn Station is scheduled to remain open, though significant delays are expected. Pedestrians will be able to enter the Two Penn Plaza building via 32nd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. Employees will need their company ID cards to enter the security perimeter. City officials will determine whether other building entry passes will be required during the convention. If additional passes are required, we will let you know when and where to obtain them.

If you have any questions, please contact Global Corporate Security

at 212-512-6041.

Thank you.
