Cantor Fitzgerald has hired George Goncalves as the head of its fixed income rates strategy, the firm said today. In this new position, he will lead the firms effort to create a strategy team and develop new fixed income trading strategies.
Goncalves was most recently with Morgan Stanley, where he'd worked since 2007 as a researcher and strategist. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he served as a researcher and strategist for Banc of America Securities from 2003 to 2007. Before that, he was an assistant fixed income portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch.
Goncalves said that Cantor will allow him the flexibility to develop better trading strategies for the changing market. He will be based in New York and report to Brian Edmonds, head of Cantors interest rates product division.
Cantor Fitzgerald is in the midst of a rapid expansion. It has hired more than 125 new staff since December and will continue to expand its fixed income business, it said.
