Brean Capital Makes Fixed Income Hires

Brean Capital today announced John Caladim and Jon Coleman as the latest additions to the Fixed Income team.

Caladim joins Brean as managing director of the financial strategies group. He will build out an analytical team that is responsible for creating tailored investment portfolios, developing balance sheet strategies, and running asset/liability management modeling for Brean’s institutional client base.

Caladim was previously managing director, financial strategies group at First Empire Securities. Prior to that, he was managing director, corporate strategies group for CU Investment Solutions. Earlier in his career, Caladim was the portfolio manager responsible for $3 billion in fixed income securities at Empire Corporate Credit Union.  

Coleman joins Brean as vice president, fixed income trader, and is responsible for trading U.S. agency small business administration bonds.  Hews previously a fixed income trader at First Empire Securities, where he traded SBAs, ARMs, MBS, and CMOs.

Prior to that, he was an ABS Trader in the proprietary trading unit at Rabobank, where he managed an RMBS and CMBS non-agency portfolio. Coleman also worked in fixed income analytics at Countrywide Securities and held portfolio manager and trader roles in asset management at Centre Pacific.  

Caladim and Coleman both report to Robert Tirschwell, head of fixed income trading in the New York City office.

On March 6, the firm announced it hired Joe Mannello and Brian McGrath to lead the firm’s debt capital markets and corporate credit sales and trading efforts, with a mandate to build out a middle market credit and distressed platform.
