Amherst Securities Group Hires Mortgage Sales Team

Amherst Securities Group  hired a  team of MBS and ABS salespeople at its Chicago office.

Ryan Mullaney, a former managing director at RBS Greenwich Capital who has had a 24-year career in MBS sales, was appointed to manage the Chicago office. Joining Mullaney are Michael Brunso, Michael Carothers and Ryan Clinton, all of whom will work in sales beginning today and who also previously worked at RBS Greenwich.

In his new role as senior managing director, Mullaney will manage the new Chicago office, serving as the licensed general securities principal as well as working closely with Amherst’s executive management team. For the previous 15 years, he has held the position of regional sales manager and managing director at RBS Greenwich and was responsible for opening and building the company’s sales office in the Midwest.

At RBS, he strengthened the Midwest office’s presence in MBS, ABS, CMBS, agencies, rates and derivatives. Before RBS Greenwich, Mullaney worked at Merrill Lynch for nine years as director and head of the Midwest bank & thrift sales group.

Brunso, who joined Amherst as senior vice president in sales, was previously managing director of MBS/ABS sales at RBS Greenwich, where he sold MBS, ABS and CMBS for 13 years. Before that, Brunso worked at Merrill Lynch for ten years in MBS and ABS sales as well as held the position of director and head of the total return mortgage sales group.

Carothers joined Amherst as senior vice president in sales. While at RBS Greenwich, he held the role of managing director in MBS and ABS sales and covered top-tier money managers, commercial banks, FHLB’s, insurance companies and hedge funds. Previously, Carothers worked in fixed-income sales at Merrill Lynch for 12 years.

Clinton joined the firm as senior vice pesident in sales. He previously worked as a Managing Director specializing in structured product sales at RBS Greenwich for 13 years, where he covered institutional clients including banks, insurance companies and money managers from the Chicago regional office.
