Minnesota-based Advantus Capital Management has made some significant structural and consolidation changes to its portfolio management and research roster.
Erica Bergsland, a long-term corporate bond analyst who has spent 17 years with the Securian Financial Group affiliate, has been promoted to director of research and trading. She will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s trading group and 11-person fixed-income and structured finance analyst team, a Feb. 17 press release said.
Furthermore, Bergsland will oversee all investment research and assume the former duties of Sean O’Connell, real estate and structured finance research specialist, and corporate bond research professional John Leiviska, the statement said.
"Many of our clients already know Erica and know that she has great passion for her work," David Kuplic, Advantus executive vice president, said in the release. "She is a highly qualified and experienced investment professional with broad experience in the structured and corporate sectors."
Currently, the fixed-income, real estate and index equity firm provides management to insurance companies, public and corporate pension plans, retirement plans, mutual fund companies, Taft-Hartley plans, foundations and endowments
