Barclays Names Head of American Securitizations Syndicate

Barclays Capital named Brian Wiele as managing director and head of American securitizations syndicate, according to an internal memo that StructuredFinanceNews.com has obtained.

Wiele joined from fixed-income financial services firm Stormharbour Securities. He was previously head of U.S. ABS new -issue syndicates at both Deutsche Bank  Securities and Credit Suisse.

He replaces Craig Leonard, who was the former ABS syndicate head at Barclays.

"I am confident that Brian's deep expertise in ABS will help develop our market-leading U.S .  securitization franchise even further ," said Mark Bamford, head of global fixed-income syndicate in the internal memo.  "According to IFR (International Financing Review), we are the  No. 1  underwriter of US ABS in 2010 with greater than 20% market share."

StructuredFinanceNews reported back in May that Leonard moved to Credit Suisse with Michael Wade, former head of U.S. asset securitization at Barclays Capital .

Wade will serve as managing director and co-head of asset finance in Credit Suisse’s global markets solutions group while Leonard will head up the firm’s ABS solutions syndicate desk.
