Syncora Holdings Appointed its CEO and President

Syncora Holdings appointed Susan Comparato as chief executive officer and president.

Comparato has been serving as the company's acting in this position since August 11, 2008.

Effective immediately, the new appointee will also serve on the firm's board as well as the boards of Syncora Guarantee and Syncora Capital Assurance, the firm's two principal operating units.

Comparato joined Syncora Guarantee in 2001, serving as associate general counsel focusing on ABS and CDOs. She was subsequently promoted to managing director and general counsel, where she played an key role in Syncora Guarantee's transition to a public holding company.

In February 2008, Comparato was appointed as the firm's general counsel responsible for interaction with all regulatory institutions and for legal counsel and guidance for all the firm's key business initiatives.

Before joining Syncora Guarantee, Comparato worked for Barclays Capital, where she was an associate director in risk finance. She started her career at Sidley & Austin as associate attorney in the firm's securitization group.

"Susan's deep understanding of the financial guarantee industry and her ability to work constructively with regulators and the Company's counterparties were instrumental to Syncora's comprehensive restructuring in July 2009," commented Mike Esposito, chairman of the Board of Syncora. "Since August 2008, she has worked tirelessly towards completion of the company's restructuring plan and the board of directors felt the time was right to offer her the opportunity to take up the role on a permanent basis. We are delighted she has accepted and that she will be joining us on the Board."

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to continue to lead Syncora forward," Comparato said. "While the July restructuring and other similar transactions have placed the company on a firmer footing, I look forward to working with a very supportive board and dedicated team of employees to achieve the ongoing strategic goals of the company."
