Semper Capital Management, a boutique fixed-income investment manager, has hired Christopher Mendez as its general counsel and chief compliance officer.
Mendez oversees all aspects of the firm's legal and compliance functions and chairs the compliance committee. He joins Semper from Goodwin Procter, LLP in New York, where he was a member of the business law department. Mendez began his career at Vanguard over 10 years ago, following service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
“I'm thrilled to join the Semper team at such an exciting time of opportunity and growth for the Firm. I look forward to helping the Firm navigate the ever-changing legal and compliance landscape while serving the Firm's clients," Mendez said in a statement published Wednesday.
He replaces Ria Davis, who left Semper to take on the role of executive director of the Financial Women’s Association of NY.
“We’re very fortunate to have Chris on board,” said Semper CEO Greg Parsons. “Not only will he provide comprehensive guidance in all aspects of the firm’s legal matters, but I am personally pleased to have the leadership of another Marine on the Semper team.”
Semper Capital Management is an independent investment management firm specializing in mortgage securities and other asset-backed investments. It has been an SEC-registered investment advisor since 1992.
