RBC Hires For Euro Loan Cap Markets

RBC Capital Markets has hired three bankers for loan capital markets and European sponsor coverage, according to the bank.

Tim Cottrell joins the firm as co-head of European loan capital markets; Ollie Champion joins as a director in loan capital markets; and Steven Jones joins as a managing director in sponsor coverage.

The hires are part of a broader plan to grow the bank’s business, the firm said in a statement.

Cottrell will be responsible for syndicating leveraged finance transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients; he will co-head the group with Colin Lambert. Cottrell was most recently at Lloyds Banking Group, where he served as head of loan sales and the secondary loan syndicate. Prior to Lloyds, he worked at Unicredit CIB, Morgan Stanley and Bankers Trust.

Champion was most recently on the structured debt syndicate team at Lloyds Banking Group. He previously held roles at Barclays Capital and ANZ Investment Bank as an oil & gas originator.

Jones was most recently been at RBS, where he served as a managing director in the financial sponsors group. Prior to this, Jones held similar positions at JPMorgan Chase and Credit Suisse First Boston.

In the past few years, RBC has been hiring aggressively in both Europe and the U.S. RBC now employs roughly120 bankers in Europe and 370 bankers in the states.

The firm recently added Judith Fishlow Minter as co-head of its U.S. loan capital markets investment banking group in New York.
