NewOak Capital hired Malay Bansal, the former head of CRE CDOs at Merrill Lynch, as a managing director in CMBS.

Bansal will be working as part of a team co-headed by both Priscilla Torres and Craig Lieberman.

“Commercial real estate is one of NewOak’s thrusts that has generated great momentum with our clients,” said James Frischling, president and co-founder of NewOak. “Malay’s addition brings in additional senior talent. His expertise in CRE CDOs will add greatly to our firm’s advisory solution business, helping our clients to assess the risk that they currently hold.”

Bansal started his career in Merrill in 1992 as part of the firm’s foreign exchange trading analytics team.
