Moody's Launches New Performance Metrics for Private SLABS

Moody's Investors Service has developed an application that allows investors to compare deal performance on private student loan ABS.

The application, Moody's Private Student Loan Interactive Charting, provides access to a full set of standardized performance metrics based on the analysis of more than 50 Moody's-rated private student loan ABS transactions.

"Historically, the private student loan ABS sector has had very limited performance information made available in a ready-to-use format," said Moody's analyst Nicky Dang. "Moody's recognized the market need for this information. The charting tool gives our structured finance research subscribers easy access to standardized performance information and allows investors to compare deal performance and access thousands of data points covering 18 individual metrics, using data that extends back to 2001."

Investors can use the application to chart performance indicators such as cumulative defaults to date, monthly or quarterly defaults, parity levels (i.e., asset-to-liability ratios), delinquencies, deferment and forbearance.

The rating agency's current projections of lifetime net losses and other key transaction statistics such as current pool factors and available reserve accounts are also available to investors through the tool.
