Mayer Brown Hires Emerging Markets Partners

Mayer Brown has recruited Trevor Wood and Mayank Gupta as partners to its Banking & Finance team in London. The duo will have an emerging markets focus.

Wood is a finance lawyer whose practice covers syndicated and bilateral lending, leveraged finance and structured finance. He has advised on restructurings in the emerging markets, and across Europe and Asia.

Wood joins Mayer Brown from Berwin Leighton Paisner's finance & restructuring practice, where he was a partner. He has also previously worked at Jones Day and Clifford Chance, where he spent three and a half years in Hong Kong.

Gupta has an emerging markets focus and he formerly advised the emerging markets team at Deutsche Bank on a variety of transactions in the Middle East, Russia, Eastern Europe and Africa.

He also worked in Hong Kong for his current firm, White & Case. Earlier in his career he worked in Sydney for Australian law firm, Gadens Lawyers.

The hires are part of the firm’s ongoing expansion of its banking and finance group. They follow the appointments of securitization partners Richard Todd and David O'Connor earlier this month.
