Macquarie Capital announced yesterday that Sandy Edmonstone joins the bank as an executive director and deputy head of global oil and gas.
Macquarie's global energy platform offers M&A and strategic advisory services, equity and debt capital markets execution, sector-focused acquisition and divestiture advice, and sales, trading and research.
In his new role, Edmonstone will work closely with Dan Cristall, head of global oil and gas, and the firm's global energy team to provide experienced advice to key energy-sector clients and develop new business, both in Canada and globally. He will be based in Macquarie's Calgary office.
Prior to joining Macquarie, Edmonstone was head of global energy and a managing director at National Bank Financial, where he was actively involved with client coverage and new business origination, and oversaw the management and strategic direction of its global energy group. From 2002 to 2008, he was a managing director at GMP Capital, where he worked on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions advisory, and equity and debt capital markets transactions in the energy sector.
