Law Firm Russell McVeagh Announces Four New Partners

New Zealand law firm Russell McVeagh has announced four new partners in its Auckland and Wellington offices.

The firm’s new partners are members of the law firm's corporate advisory group, resource management and finance practices. The appointments were effective Dec. 1.

The firm's Chief Executive Gary McDiarmid said: “We are delighted to promote these four outstanding lawyers to partnership within the firm, and look forward to supporting them in their new roles."

One of the four is Auckland-based securitization expert Deemple Budhia, who is now partner with the firm's finance group. Budhia's practice covers all areas of finance law, such as securitization and structured finance, debt capital markets, derivatives, financial services regulation and general corporate finance.

Before his new position, Budhia spent several years in London working at Allen & Overy's securitization team. More recently, he was with Citibank's European commercial property and securitization team.

The other three included in the announcement were Nick Hegan and Mei Fern Johnson, who are both partners in the firm's corporate advisory group in the firm's Wellington office, as well as Bronwyn Carruther, a partner with the firm's resource management group. Carruther is based in Russell's Auckland office.
