Jones Day Hires Banking & Finance Partner in Cleveland Office

Jones Day hired Martin Gates for its Cleveland Office as a partner in the banking and finance practice. He was previously a partner with Calfee, Halter & Griswold.

Gates' practice includes securitization, general commercial business deals and other capital market offerings, as well as mergers and acquisitions. 

Gates also represents lenders and borrowers in differenty secured and unsecured commercial financing deals, many with multijurisdictional and multicurrency components, such as financings for syndicated and single-lender firms, investment-grade companies, asset-based transactions, acquisition deals, all types of subordinated debt offerings, and private placements.

Gates also represents lenders and borrowers in the workout and restructuring of troubled credits, and debtor-in-possession and exit financings. The new hire also advises lenders on intercreditor issues in connection with deals that involve various debt tranches and lien priorities.
