Jefferies Boosts Euro Fixed-Income Sales and Trading

Jefferies appointed Guy Cornelius as a managing director and head of sterling credit sales. The firm also hired Christian Janssen as a managing director and head of commercial real estate debt capital markets Europe.

Cornelius will be responsible for the sales of British pound-denominated fixed income securities, and will report to Jon Pliner and Frank Cerveny, the co-heads of Jefferies' European credit business.

Janssen will be responsible for European commercial real estate (CRE)-related capital markets deals, including CMBS and loans secured on European CRE, and will report to Steve Hulett and Craig Tipping, who are the co-heads of Jefferies' European MBS/ABS group.

Cornelius brings to Jefferies more than 22 years of experience and joins the firm from Nomura, where he was a managing director and co-head of fixed income, currency and commodities (FICC) sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before this, he was a managing director and head of fixed income at Evolution Securities. He was also previously managing director in fixed income sales at Lehman Brothers, and previously was co-head of European FICC sales at UBS/SG Warburg, where he spent 16 years.

Janssen brings to Jefferies more than 15 years of experience, and joins the firm from Barclays Capital, where he spent seven years and was most recently a Managing Director in the Commercial Real Estate Finance group. Previously, he spent seven years at Morgan Stanley in New York and London as an Executive Director in the Securitized Products Group, and prior to that spent three years at Credit Suisse in New York in Investment Banking.

"We are pleased to welcome two proven professionals like Christian and Guy to Jefferies," Tim Cronin, head of international fixed income at Jefferies, said. "Their significant experience will add immediate value to our global fixed income offering, and their addition demonstrates Jefferies' continued commitment to providing our clients with world-class fixed income products, strategy and trading."
