James "Jamie" Hahn has joined the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis, as a partner, where he will structure and operate regulated products that provide high-net-worth investors access to asset-backed credit, including asset-backed securities (ABS) and other products, the company announced.

Hahn's experience, which includes funds with private market strategies for individual investors, will also be applied to innovative retail structures for conglomerates, holding companies, private funds and private real estate investment trusts, according to a company statement.

"We are excited to bring Jamie's experience in the retail market to Kirkland's investment funds group," according to a statement from Erica Berthou and Daniel Lavon-Krein, partners in Kirkland's investment funds group and members of the firm's executive committee.

Kirkland & Ellis is a global firm with about 4,000 lawyers in 22 cities across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Previously, Hahn was a partner with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, a New York-based international law firm.
