Hodes Weill Expands its Property Underwriting and Due Diligence Unit

Global advisory firm Hodes Weill & Associates hired Ray Potter as a principal to focus on the firm’s property underwriting, due diligence and principal investment activities.

Before Hodes Weill, Potter worked on property restructuring assignments and identified distressed debt opportunities within the commercial banks and special servicers sectors while at Rainew Realty Advisors.

Previous to that, he was a managing director at Credit Suisse in the firm's real estate finance group where he was responsible for CMBS origination team that was based in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Tampa.

Potter’s career in commercial real estate also includes a variety of roles at Column Canada, Chase Manhattan Bank and HSBC.

“We are excited to welcome Ray to the firm,” said Doug Weill, co-founder and a managing partner at Hodes Weill. “Given his considerable experience in various aspects of the commercial real estate industry and his strong property underwriting skills, we expect Ray to have an immediate impact on our advisory and restructuring engagements, as well as our principal investment business.”

“I am delighted to join the growing team of professionals at Hodes Weill & Associates,” Potter said. “The current market dislocation is generating significant distressed real estate investment opportunities, including the recapitalization and restructuring of fund managers and fund portfolio investments, which Hodes Weill is actively evaluating.”

Hodes Weill is a global advisory and principal investment firm focused on the real estate private equity and private funds industry.
