Hildene Capital Management, the Stamford, Conn.-based asset manager and non-qualified mortgage securitization sponsor, recently led a $5 million Series A round of financing for Button Finance, a fintech home equity lender.
Leveraging AI-driven underwriting technology, Button Finance provides home equity financing through its online platform, according to a statement from the company. The funding round will help Button expand its range of product offerings to a wider base of borrowers, and it preserves equity for shareholders. The deal also continues an ongoing relationship between the two companies.
"They believe in the investment," said Jason Harris, chief executive officer of Button Finance. "Hildene has purchased our loans in the past and we will most likely continue to see some Button Finance loan deals sponsored by Hildene in the future."
It is unclear whether Hildene will support future investments in Button Finance through securitizations, but Hildene Capital is part of the Hildene-CCC Loan Acquisition shelf, a strategic partnership behind the non-qualified mortgage investment strategy and securitization platform.
In March, the Hildene-CCC partnership sponsored CROSS 2025-H2, a $429.7 million securitization of residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).
