Deutsche Bank hires strengthen MBS team

Deutsche Bank Securities added five professionals to its MBS research group, topping the appointments with directors Arthur Frank and Ying Shen, who join the company as head of Agency MBS research and head of non-Agency MBS, respectively.

            Owing to his vast experience in the mortgage-backed securities industry, Frank's move is seen as a coup for the bank. He was a director in Barclays Capital's mortgage strategy group and before that, he led MBS research at both Nomura Securities International and HSBC Securities. Frank is also a full-time faculty member at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

            Shen was head of credit trading modeling for JPMorgan Securities. Previously, he was chief credit modeler and co-head of the mortgage modeling group at Goldman Sachs.

            Based in New York, both report to Karen Weaver, Global Head of Securitization Research and head of research for the Americas.

            "As Deutsche Bank continues to grow its U.S. mortgage franchise and with widespread interest in the housing market, it is crucial we have a strong analytical team in place," according to a statement from Weaver. "Art and Young's career experience, knowledge of the industry and strong skill set across all the mortgage products will be great assets to our global securitization team."

In addition to Frank and Shen, the bank hired Yan Dong, William Natcher and Jichun Wu as vice presidents. Previously, they worked at UBS, National City Corp. and Freddie Mac.
