Credit Suisse hired Dale Westhoff as the global head of structured products research. Westhoff. who will be based in New York, will focus on MBS, ABS and other structured products.
The new hire will continue to develop Credit Suisse's suite of structured product analytics, with a particular focus on the bank's MBS prepayment models, which are used internally and by clients.
Most recently, Westhoff was head of the consumer modeling teams at JPMorgan Securities. Before the Bear Stearns and JPMorgan merger, he was a senior managing director and head of quantitative research at Bear Stearns.
Westhoff joined Bear Stearns in 1990, focusing on the analysis and modeling of MBS prepayments.
Before Bear Stearns, he was an aerospace engineer with Hughes Aircraft Co. in its satellite communications division.
According to ASR sister publication National Mortgage News, some investment banking firms are starting to staff up their MBS units. Others are thinking of launching conduits in anticipation of the Jumbo MBS business' revival later in the year.
