CWCapital Investments (CWCI), a full service commercial real estate investment management company, launched a new risk management group, and has hired former Moody’s Investors Service CMBS head Tad Philipp as managing director of the group.

The new hire will report to Charles Spetka, president of CWCI and CWCapital Asset Management, and will further develop and market the risk management group’s platform with Julia Hu, a CWCI senior vice president with extensive capital markets and structured finance experience. Hu joined CWCI in March 2008, and has been instrumental in the development of the group’s concept.

The risk management services platform, entitled CW Risk Management Solutions, will allow CWCI to deliver its proprietary analytics and underwriting to portfolio lenders, securities investors and other clients. Initial offerings will include valuation, portfolio optimization and credit risk management services, all highly critical skill sets in today’s turbulent real estate market and economic environment.

Before joining CWCI,Philipp was with Moody's Investors Service for 17 years, for most of that time as managing director of the rating agency's U.S. commercial mortgage finance group.
