Chapman and Cutler Boosts Securitization Team

Chapman and Cutler hired James Croke and Peter Manbeck, previously from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, as partners in the asset securitization group in its New York office.

Croke and Manbeck worked together at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where Croke was head of the London capital markets department and had a key role in the legal development of the European ABCP market. He was also a member of the board of directors of the American Securitization Forum and on the faculty of the Practicing Law Institute with respect to developments in the asset backed commercial paper sector.

Prior to Chapman and Cutler, Manbeck, along with Croke, previously joined Orrick from Cadwalader where he focused on representing issuers, sponsors and broker-dealers in ABCP programs, structured investment vehicles (SIVs) and related matters. He has also worked on various debt and equity financings. He has extensive experience in matters involving state securities laws and National Association Of Securities Dealers corporate financing rules.

“Their leadership and experience will accelerate our efforts to expand our New York presence
and business development efforts,” said Ken Marin, New York office head and member of
Chapman’s securitization team.

“We are extremely pleased to add such well-regarded and talented attorneys to our
securitization practice,” said Tim Mohan, chief executive partner and securitization attorney.
“With an increased demand from our clients to develop new ways to access and invest in
structured finance transactions, Jim and Peter bring valuable thought leadership to answering
this demand. "They join our team of lawyers who possess deep knowledge and experience in
addressing regulatory reforms as they relate to our clients in the securitization markets.”

“Peter and I are delighted to be joining the top-notch lawyers at Chapman,” Croke said.
“The focus and approach of Chapman and Cutler’s securitization practice fits well with our
own, and we’re excited to be able to contribute to its continued success.”
