Carlos Mendez left investment banking firm Sandler O’Neill + Partners in mid-February. He was the firm's head of structured finance at the time of his departure.
Mendez was hired in June 2010 to lead what was then the firm's newly created structured finance group. As head of structured finance, Mendez focused on arranging new term funding and alternative capital solutions.
He also advised clients on current recapitalization requirements and was mandated to help Sandler O'Neill further expand its fixed-income sales and trading business. Mendez was based in the firm's New York headquarters.
The firm has now folded the structured finance group into its larger fixed-income division.
Prior to Sandler O'Neill, Mendez was a senior managing director in the capital markets division of Institutional Credit Partners. As a founding member, he led the expansion of the firm's broker dealer operations in the U.S. and Europe.
