BlackRock has hired Russell Brownback, Leland Hart, Michael Lipsky, Mike Phelps, John Stein, Josh Tarnow and Michael Weaver, all formerly of R3 Capital Management, as managing directors.
The team will report to Rick Rieder, R3's former president and CEO, who was also hired as a managing director and head of the firm's alternatives fixed-income operations.
J. Richard Blewitt was hired as a managing director in the firm's securitized assets group, while Paul Tice was hired as a managing director in the firm's leveraged finance group.
Blewitt and Tice also previously worked at R3.
BlackRock has also retained Akiva Dickstein, formerly of Merrill Lynch, as a managing director in the U.S. bond team, and Randy Robertson, formerly of Wachovia Capital Markets, as a managing director and co-head of the securitized assets investment team.
