Beacon Capital Markets, which operates a marketplace dedicated to providing liquidity and electronic trading in the MBS market, expanded its sales team with the hiring of four professionals.
Sean Farrell, Brad Heitman, Paul Jacob and Andrew English have joined Beacon Capital Markets. All four will focus on bringing more market participants to the firm's Trade Discovery platform, reporting to Managing Director Kim Campbell.
Farrell most recently had been executive vice president of Countrywide Securities' short-term sales and funding group. In his more than 20-year career, he held positions at UBS, Swiss Bank and Kidder Peabody.
Heitman has worked in fixed income for 19 years and was focused on sales and sales management at Countrywide Securities, most recently as an executive vice president. He also worked with numerous regional firms earlier in his career.
Jacob, who aside from his role working in sales assumes the title of senior analyst responsible for analysis and commentary of the mortgage markets, has worked in fixed-income investments and banking for more than two decades with an emphasis on mortgage- backed securities.
Most recently, he served as executive vice president at Countrywide Securities and previously held positions as senior portfolio manager at Hyperion Capital Management and different positions at Morgan Stanley. His is a frequent author of commentaries on the mortgage markets and contributed to The Handbook of Mortgage-Backed Securities published in 2006 and edited by Frank J. Fabozzi.
English, who will work in sales and customer support, most recently had worked at Moody's Investors Services and Tradeweb. He was at Bloomberg Financial Markets for nine years and was a team leader for various business units. He also spent time at the American Stock Exchange.
"These hires underscore our continued efforts to introduce mortgage market participants to our growing platform," Campbell said. "Our platform is focused on providing price discovery and efficient executions to the mortgage industry. Particularly at a time when market participants face challenges trading in the markets, our platform represents a tool for unlocking liquidity."
Launched in spring 2008, Beacon Capital Markets' trading platform is serving an increasing number of buy and sell side institutions. It is the only electronic platform exclusively dedicated to mortgage-backed securities.
Its open, anonymous, Web-based marketplace increases liquidity while also offering more efficiencies in trading MBS.
