ATLAS SP appoints Carey Lathrop as CEO

ATLAS SP, the global investment firm that has issued more than $1.5 billion of unsecured, investment-grade rated corporate debt, has appointed Carey Lathrop as chief executive officer.

The move cements Lathrop's position at the helm of ATLAS SP's 350-person global team since he was named interim CEO and chair of its ATLAS SP executive committee in August 2024. Previously, Lathrop served as partner and chief operating officer of Apollo's credit business, and lead of its U.S. performing credit strategy, the company said.

He also has a long history with background at Citigroup, where, among other leadership positions, he was co-head of securitized markets and global credit markets. He was also head of several of the bank's trading businesses, managing director and global co-head of markets. He was also COO of Citibank, according to an ATLAS SP statement.

Since Apollo carved ATLAS SP out of the assets of UBS in March, the firm has provided credit to its clients through warehouse finance facilities and securitizations, assisting corporate clients in originating $60 billion in assets, and underwriting more than 200 securitizations.

"I have been involved in ATLAS SP since the very beginning, and I am honored to now serve as its chief executive," according to a statement from Lathrop. "We are excited to enter new growth areas and provide our clients with an expanding suite of solutions to enable their business plans and help finance the real economy."

ATLAS SP supported more than $40 billion of balance sheet capacity, including long-term equity from blue-chip investors, and a recently announced $5 billion strategic financing with BNP Paribas.
