Amherst Names Primary CMBS Trader

Amherst Securities Group named John Caputo as its primary CMBS trader, effective June 21.

Caputo, who will be based in New York, has nearly 20 years of commercial real estate experience and has worked as a loan underwriter, desk trader, and bond portfolio manager.

Caputo previously managed RMBS and CMBS trading at hedge fund C12 Capital Management. He was also a CMBS trader at Barclays Capital and Salomon Brothers/Smith Barney/Citi.

“We are very pleased to welcome John to our company,” said Sean Dobson, chairman and CEO of Amherst. “There is a tremendous opportunity for Amherst to expand its mortgage trading efforts into the CMBS market. We are convinced that John’s extensive trading and loan credit background will be critical to our success as we build out this important new platform at Amherst. John is the ideal person to fill this important role.”

Amherst Securities Group, the principal subsidiary of Amherst Holdings, is a broker-dealer specializing in the analysis and trade of RMBS.
