Brown & Wood has just finished a worldwide hiring spree of securitization lawyers. In Hong Kong, the firm has hired Balbir Bindra, formerly a partner and head of international banking and finance at Wilde Sapte, along with his team of five solicitors in Hong Kong and one structured finance associate in London. In London, the firm has hired Colin Mercer, partner, and Lucy Clark, both formerly at Simmons & Simmons.

Credit Lyonnais in Hong Kong is rumored to have been mandated for a US dollar-denominated equipment lease-backed deal for KDB Capital, a leasing company controlled by Korea Development Bank. Launch date is set for first quarter next year, said sources in Hong Kong.

Andy Clapham, the ex-head of securitization at Greenwich NatWest, is back in the securitization market, after being named as managing director at Nikko Principal Investment Ltd., the Japanese bank's London-based principal finance arm.
