Jean-Pierre Mustier, the former head of corporate and investment banking at Societe Generale, will join UniCredit as deputy general manager and CIB chief, the Italian lender announced Thursday.

Mustier, who will begin his new job March 14, will report to chief executive Federico Ghizzoni and belong to the executive management committee.

Mustier was head of the corporate and investment banking division of Société Générale from 2003 to 2008, and served on the group executive committee.

In September 2008, he assumed the responsibility of asset management, private banking and securities services for the French bank, which he joined in 1987.

He left the group in August 2009, and has been adviser to various financial institutions, completing also large fund raising for nonprofit institutions.
