SNR Denton Boosts Capital Markets Practice

SNR Denton hired Scott Samlin as a partner in the capital markets practice. Samlin was previously at Morgan Stanley where he was the executive director for the residential mortgage and lending compliance business. He will be based in New York.

At Morgan Stanley, Samlin helped oversee the operations of the bank’s whole loan trading desk and its affiliated mortgage loan servicer, Saxon Mortgage Services.

Before this, Samlin was the executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer for EMC Mortgage, which was Bear Stearns’ primary mortgage loan servicer.

Earlier in his career, Samlin held several senior in-house positions at large corporations such as vice president and assistant general counsel at Superior Bank FSB, vice president, senior staff attorney and compliance officer at Carteret Federal Savings Bank and assistant counsel at the New York State Banking Department.

“Having been in the mortgage finance industry for many years, Scott has been deeply engaged with the major investment banks, private loan originators and servicers,” said Stephen Kudenholdt, chair of SNR Denton’s capital markets practice. “As a nationally-recognized regulatory compliance practitioner, who is well-known to many of our current clients, Scott is a welcome addition. As the compliance landscape continues to shift daily, Scott will help our clients navigate these changes.”

“The recent explosion of financial regulation and proliferation of consumer compliance lawsuits and governmental investigations of financial institutions makes this a particularly opportune time for me to join SNR Denton,” Samlin said. “I have witnessed first-hand SNR Denton’s ability and know-how in assisting clients thrive in these challenging times.”
