Fitch Ratings today announced that Andrew Smitiuch will head its Canadian Business.
Smitiuch has been appointed senior director and will lead all aspects of Fitch’s business and relationship management efforts in Canada. He will be based in Toronto and reports to managing director Douglas Murray.
Smitiuch was previously with RBC Capital Markets in Toronto, where he was a managing director responsible for senior corporate relationships.
During his time at RBC, Smitiuch sourced and executed transactions for companies across diversified sectors. He structured Canadian, cross border and global transactions including IPOs, equity, bond, structured finance and corporate debt offerings.
Smitiuch has also worked at John Labatt and Allstate Insurance.
Murray said in a press release that the new appointment will add to the momentum the ratings agency has experienced in the past few years in Canada.
