SIFMA Hires Ken Bentsen as Head of D.C. Office

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) has named Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr. as executive vice president, public policy and advocacy and head of its Washington, D.C. office.

Bentsen will be responsible for SIFMA’s legal, governmental, and legislative affairs and advocacy initiatives. He will begin in September, and report to SIFMA President and CEO Timothy Ryan.

Prior to joining SIFMA, Bentsen was president of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, a position he moved to after four years as managing director at Public Strategies

Before that, Bentsen served as a member of the House of Representatives from Texas starting 1995 to 2003.

He was an investment banker specializing in municipal and mortgage finance prior to his service in Congress.
