Ogier Expands in China

Ogier has opened an office in Shanghai, China in an attempt to increase its network and its presence across the globe, according to a press release by the firm.

The new office, known as Ogier Shanghai, will be headed up by Kristy Calvert, who joins the company from Rio Tinto China/Asia where she was legal director.

The Ogier release describes this expansion into mainland China as “critically important” to adapt their services to local conditions and practices. It will provide clients with access to a global network.

Also, the release said that Ogier now possesses the unique advantage of both a base on the mainland as well as insight into offshore business in places like BVI, Cayman, Guernsey, and Jersey.

Ogier Shanghai will primarily deal in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate transactional advice, banking and finance, investment funds, trusts and private wealth.

This new office will be in collaboration and communication with Ogier’s Hong Kong office, according to the statement by the firm.
